Here’s what to expect at the Visitor Centre:

A shop with Brauerei Locher products and merchandise, various tastings for groups (by appointment) and individuals, showing the brewery’s history and background and a team that will be delighted to answer all your questions about Appenzeller Bier. Immerse yourself in the art of brewing and challenge your senses! Let yourself be carried away by the fascination of traditional brewing!

How to find us

GET TO KNOW THE NEW WORLD OF APPENZELLER BEER

On a short tour through the brewhouse, you can take a look into the mash kettles, the lauter tun, the boiling kettle, and the whirlpool. From an elevated walkway, you can also see the bottling line. Our team is happy to answer any questions you may have about the brewery and Appenzeller beer. The tour is open at any time during the opening hours from 10:00a.m. - 5:00p.m., without prior registration and free of charge.

BEER TASTINGS FOR INDIVIDUAL VISITORS

Each Thursday at 10:15a.m. (except public holidays) we offer an open tasting. No reservation required. Admission: CHF 12.00 per person.

 

 

 

GROUPE TASTINGS

Tastings are for groups of up to 25 participants. Personal contact in a pleasant atmosphere is important to us. Would you like to visit us with a larger group? It's possible to split your group. You can plan a tasting at the visitor center with one part of the group and an individual activity with the other part of the group, either parallel or alternating. Are you looking for original ideas for your next club or team outing? Appenzell Tourism offers a variety of tours and group activities. Each Thursday at 10:15a.m. (except public holidays) we offer an open tasting. No reservation required. Admission: CHF 12.00 per person.

Duration:around 60 minutes

Enjoy some delicious Appenzeller specialty beers in a cosy atmosphere and get to know new and exciting beer creations. This tasting also includes one glass of whisky per person. The flat rate is CHF 120.00 for up to 10 people. Each additional person costs CHF 12.00.

Join us at the Appenzeller Whisky-Stöbli for an introduction to the aromas of the exquisite Säntis Malt. In this tasting you will learn to hone your senses, learning more with each sip of Säntis Malt Whisky. The flat rate is CHF 320.00 for up to 8 people. Each additional person costs CHF 40.00.

BLIND TASTING FOR GROUPS

Challenge your sense of smell and taste! We will start by introducing you to six different types of beer, followed by a blind tasting, where you will be asked to guess which type your are sampling. The flat rate is CHF 220.00 for up to 10 people. Each additional person costs CHF 22.00.

Doing without volume percentages by no means means doing without taste. Whether lager, wheat, IPA, panaché or spritzer - the alcohol-free range of Appenzeller beers offers something for every palate. Book this tasting and discover the alcohol-free variety. The flat rate is CHF 120.00 for up to 10 people. Each additional person costs CHF 12.00.

BREWBEE TASTING FOR GROUPS

High-quality by-products such as spent grains, brewer's yeast, soft beer and secondary wort are refined and further developed. They are used to create our brewbee products. Discover the diversity of the Locher brewery during a brewbee tasting with food pairing. The flat rate is CHF 220.00 for up to 10 people. Each additional person costs CHF 22.00.
